Berthold Laufer (1874–1934)

Berthold Laufer (1874–1934) is usually considered a Sinologist and anthropologist but actually he can justifiably be called a Tibetologist. For his doctoral dissertation (University of Leipzig), he critically analyzed a Tibetan text (Latuorette 1936: 43). He published a number studies dealing with Tibetan language and culture.
